Rock

A rock is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of one or more minerals. Rocks are geologically classified according to characteristics such as mineral and chemical composition, permeability, the texture of the constituent particles, and particle size. Aggregate is a broad category of coarse particulate material used in construction with predictable, uniform properties.  Manufactured Aggregates are used as base material in landscapes, a stable foundation for roads and driveways, and drainage applications in leech fields and french drains.

A cubic yard of rock weighs approximately 2500 lbs = about 1.25 tons. A ton to cubic yard equivalent price is shown for your comparison.

1/2” Fractured Rock
05FRK 1/2" Fractured rock is crushed, dry screened and consistently sized with varying blue-grey hues. As a result of the crushing and dry screen process, this material has angular sides and pointed edges and
may contain 10% or more dust fines. When applied as groundcover, its shape allows the rock to “lock” into place to create a very stable surface. Many uses include driveway and ground stabilization, landscape groundcover, and French drainage applications.

1" - 2" Lava Rock
LAVAR Lava Rock is a 1-2 inch volcanic stone that is burgundy in color. Lava Rock retains and radiates heat very well making it perfectly suited for use in chimineas, fire pits, and gas grills. When grilling, Lava Rock protects propane burners by catching any fat dripping before they are hit by the flame reducing the risk of flare-up. The Lava distributes the heat evenly around the grill and expands the available cooking surface. Lava Rock should be spread evenly over the bottom rock grate, leaving enough room for air to flow through. The grate should be about an inch above the burners and about 3-4 inches below the cooking grate, allowing for up to a two inch layer of lava rock.$10.00
